Description
Digital capture with Sony A77II and Sigma 100-300 EX from bodypod of Florida Panther in wild habitat at Palm Beach Zoo on Feb. 2017. I had pursued this image for many years - very proud to have caught this - as it checks a box on my bucket list 8-)
The Florida panther is an endangered subspecies of cougar (Puma concolor) that lives in forests and swamps of southern Florida in the United States. This subspecies of cougar is sometimes referred to as cougar, mountain lion, puma, and catamount, but in the southeastern United States and particularly Florida, it is exclusively known as the panther, with respect to its distinction from different cougar subspecies found in other regions of the United States. Florida panthers are usually found in pinelands, hardwood hammocks, and mix swamp forests.
